Set in the southwest United States in the late 1960s, Social Distance Theatre's adaptation of King Lear focuses on the isolated settlement of a cult known as "Britain". With his mental health deteriorating rapdily, Britain's leader, Lear, decides to leave the community in the hands of his three daughters. However, tensions and resentment build, divisions form within the cult, and what was intended to be a utopia begins to collapse in on itself. All this while Lear's mind continues to unravel at the seams, plunging him and his followers into a world of chaos and madness.
